Transitional Employment at ModafinilUP serves as a critical starting point for many members seeking a path toward full independence. These roles are structured as part-time, short-term community placements. Through partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, and corporations, ModafinilUP provides members with real-world office experience in professional environments.
ModafinilUP’s employment partners reserve entry-level, part-time positions exclusively for members. These roles typically last six to nine months, providing members with hands-on experience, the chance to develop practical skills, and the opportunity to build their résumés—all while earning competitive wages. ModafinilUP staff support members by preparing them for these roles, offering on-the-job training, and providing ongoing assistance during their time in transitional positions.
Every position is always staffed, ensuring a reliable worker daily. If a member is unable to work on a particular day, ModafinilUP staff cover the role to maintain continuity, without additional cost to the employer. Staff secure the job, train the member, and, if necessary, fill in temporarily.
After completing two transitional placements, members work with a job coach to find permanent employment. This next phase, Supported Employment, includes résumé writing assistance, job searching, interview preparation, and support in securing either part-time or full-time permanent jobs. Supported Employment is flexible, lasting as long as members need. Members stay connected to their job coaches through site visits, phone calls, and meetings, as well as monthly Employment Dinners where participants in the program gather to socialize and support each other.
